For many people, things like mob farms and complicated redstone machines are core features of Minecraft and we at Cassiopeia agree! However, these contraptions can be incredibly taxing on a server and can cause a lot of server lag. This isn't fair (or all that fun) for everyone else on the server, so before diving into a massive project, we ask that you keep these simply guidelines in mind! If you aren't sure about how your project fits into these rules, please reach out to us and we can figure it out together.
Mob Farm Guidelines
Redstone Guidelines
We absolutely encourage you to play Minecraft exactly how you would like to- don't shy away from building to your heart's content. Just keep the health of the server in mind and make sure that all your fellow players can enjoy the server just as much as you can! Please note that users found intentionally violating these rules will receive a warning and repeated offenses will result in you being banned from the server.
Mob Farm Guidelines
- You may not allow mods to endlessly collect at your farm or grinder. The number of mobs gathered at your farm must remain reasonable (>100) at any given time.
- The farm must have an on/off switch so it can be turned off when not in use. If your farm is public, you must place signs to instruct users to turn off the farm when they are done.
- You may not allow uncollected items or entities to remain on the ground en mass. Please design a method to collect these drops or provide enough chests for users to manually deposit drops into. You can also ask a staff member to build you a [Trash] sign to allow users to destroy unwanted items.
Redstone Guidelines
- All machines must has an on/off switch so it can be turned off when not in use. If your project is public, you must place signs to instruct users to turn off the project when they are done.
- Be mindful of the amount of clocks and other always-on redstone devices you use. Try to use only what you need for your build, as these can be very taxing on the server. Ideally, your clock should be controlled by your on/off switch.
- Keep in mind that Redstone is inherintly a little buggy on multiplayer servers- try not to get too frustrated!
